About the Program:
Morehead presents the Chapel Hill premiere of Farmsteaders, a documentary film directed by former adjunct instructor in visual communication, Shaena Mallett, and produced by associate professor in the School of Media and Journalism, Chad Stevens Heartwood. The film will premiere on PBS's showcase documentary film series, POV, on September 2, 2019 but this is your chance to see it in the dome.

Clear-eyed and intimate, Farmsteaders follows Nick Nolan and his young family on a journey to resurrect his late grandfather’s dairy farm as agriculture moves toward large-scale farming. A study of place and persistence, Farmsteaders points an honest and tender lens at everyday life in rural America, offering an unexpected voice for a forsaken people: those who grow the food that sustains us.
