Topic: The Global Relevance of Virology
Join us as our speaker Shannon Speer,a PhD candidate in Chemistry, talks about viruses, including the current Coronavirus, and the global relevance of virology.

Shannon is pursuing a PhD in Chemistry with certificates in Molecular and Cellular Biophysics and Business Fundamentals. Shannon has been involved in teaching and mentoring undergraduate and high school students and raising money to support underprivileged women in science. During her time at UNC-CH, she has begun her own academic consulting company focused on helping students and parents navigate the college admissions process. When she is not in the lab, she enjoys running marathons and swimming. She plans on applying to postdoctoral fellowships and startups upon graduation.
