Curiosity Classroom
The 2019 UNC Science Expo is expanding to include an outdoor, tented classroom perfect for families ready to explore! Read the descriptions below and sign up for a 30-45 minute hands-on STEM experience.

Note: Each session includes stuff you can take home. Due to high demand, please register your family for only 1 session.

Team up with the Morehead Planetarium and Science Center and the UNC Science Expo to help protect a very special astronaut. The harsh environment of space can be unforgiving, even for a nutritious and hearty potato! Participants in this session will design and outfit a protective space suit for a potato astronaut that is preparing for launch on Spudnik-2. Your goal: protect the spudstronaut from being french-fried or hashbrowned on re-entry. Designers are encouraged to take their creation home for further testing.

Recommended for ages 8+.

The 2019 UNC Science Expo takes place on Saturday, April 6, on Cameron Avenue, on the campus of UNC Chapel Hill from 11AM - 4PM. You'll receive more information about parking, directions, and general info about the site in your confirmation email.

The UNC Science Expo officially kicks off the statewide 2019 NC Science Festival - a month-long celebration of science with almost 400 events all across the state throughout the Month of April. To find more cool events like the Curiosity Classroom and the Science Expo, go to ncsciencefestival.org.
